Homero Tijerina - Assistant Principal

Homero Tijerina believes that all children have the potential to become their hearts desire. Education is the path to their dreams and to their life’s successes. It is the foundation that builds upon itself and allows them to stand above all of life’s challenges. Homero Tijerina is a hometown boy who graduated from Edinburg High School in 1989. He graduated from the University of Texas Pan-American with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1997. In 1997 Homero Tijerina married his wife Mary Tijerina. The couple has been blessed with three beautiful girls, Jacqueline Romae, Alexia Renae and Mia Annette Tijerina.

In 2011, Homero Tijerina earned a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas-Pan American. Homero Tijerina is starting his 23rd year in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, including 11 years as a teacher and 2 years as a testing facilitator at South Middle School, 3 years as a counselor at Memorial Middle School, has completed 5 years at South Middle School as a Curriculum Assistant and now an Assistant Principal.

He is starting his 2nd year as an Assistant Principal at South Middle School. It is a campus that holds a very special place in his heart. Homer Tijerina has been part of many changes at this campus at every professional level and still holds a warmth and comfort that has endured throughout the years. It has the highest standards and the best staff that have been crafted together for a place of learning and holds a high regard for preparing students for the future.
