We are in the first week of the 5th Six Weeks. Fourth Six Weeks grades have been finalized and are available on the Parent Skyward link. Encourage your students to turn in all of their assignments on a daily basis so as not to get behind. It is also important to keep up with their AR points. Students should be reading their AR books at least 30 minutes a day. Stress to your students that good grades are a major factor in determining future success.
As of Monday, February 24th, there are only 26 school days left until the 7th grade Writing STAAR, 8th grade Reading STAAR, the 8th grade English 1 EOC exams and the 8th grade Math STAAR! Therefore, in the following weeks leading up to the state exams, students may experience a little more homework than usual in their five core subjects of Math, Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies. In preparation for these State exams, we encourage all parents to send their students who received a tutoring parent permission slip earlier this year to After-School Tutoring and to Saturday Tutoring. After-School tutoring is scheduled weekly from Monday through Thursday from 4:00 -5:00 p.m. Saturday Tutoring is from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Our Saturday Tutoring date remaining for February is the 29th, and for the month of March are the 7th, and the 28th. Extra instructional time outside of the eight hour, five day school week is essential for the success of the struggling learner. If you need tutoring permission slips, please visit with our Testing/Tutorial Facilitator, Mrs. Caren Deaton; Curriculum Assistant, Mrs. Catherine Salazar; or our head counselor, Mr. Joe Martinez.
