Principal's Message

October 22 – 27, 2018

Principal’s Message:

This is the fourth week of the 2nd six-weeks grading period. Parents may view Progress Reports online through their Skyward access. The end of the 2nd Six Weeks will be November 6, 2018. Students should be targeting their 2nd Six-week academic goals. Encourage your student(s) to strive for the highest grades possible and to attend school every day.  Education is the key to a successful future.
After-School Tutoring continues Monday through Thursday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday Tutoring will resume this week on October 27th from 7:45 a.m. – 12:00 Noon. Extra instructional time outside of the eight hour/five day school week is essential for the success of the struggling learner. Parents, encourage your student(s) to take advantage of the extra help provided by our SMS teachers in After-School and Saturday Tutoring. Please speak to our Curriculum Assistant, Mr. Homero Tijerina, or our Head Counselor, Mr. Joe Martinez, if you have any questions about our SMS Tutoring Program.
Our Homecoming Dance was a great success with approximately 700 of our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders attending. Thank you to our Student Council Sponsors, Ms. Courtney Trejo and Ms. Caren Deaton, for organizing the dance, Ms. Kenia Hernandez, Ms. Jade Klaussen, and Ms. Julissa Rodriguez for decorating the gym so beautifully, and to Mrs. Catherine Garza-Salazar for announcing the Royal Homecoming Court as follows:
